Queen Elizabeth 2 has died at the Age of 96
She was the U.K's longest serving monarch. She has died at Balmoral at the age of 96, after reigning for 70 years.
Her eldest son Charles will lead the country as the new King and head of the state.
In a statement, King Charles said:
"The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of great sadness for me and all members of my family.
"We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world."
Queen Elizabeth reign spanned fourteen prime ministers and some of the major events including the transition of UK from Empire to Commonwealth, the end of Cold War and UK's entry and withdrawal from the European Union.
